In Forssa region there is one of the most advanced industrial symbioses formed around circular economy in Finland. Forssa is a charming and lively town of 17 500 inhabitants, that offers high quality and comprehensive services. Forssa is also an economic hub for 34 000 people and the centre for jobs, housing, education, commercial services and leisure time activities. The town is located at the centre of the major Southern cities of Helsinki, Turku and Tampere and has close-to-nature living environment in the middle of South Finland.
Forssa region is known for its Bright Green approach, in which main focus areas are: self-sufficient environment and energy, well-being, technology and green logistics. The region is known for its diverse businesses. Business strategy leans on innovative, sustainable development based ideas = bright green.
The region’s Envitech area is known for diverse material recycling and waste processing businesses, bio-economy and renewable energy and wide-ranging environmental know-how. It has good examples of industrial symbiosis. It is a core for a larger circular economy business ecosystem and innovation ecosystem. The regional strategic programme has emphasis on bio-economy and sustainable use of natural resources. Envitech area is also known for active public-private cooperation and intensive networking.
