In Forssa region there is one of the most advanced industrial symbioses formed around circular economy in Finland. Forssa is a charming and lively town of 17 500 inhabitants, that offers high quality and comprehensive services.
The Dutch government aims to stimulate the transition towards a circular economy. That is why the Ministry of Environment was one of the partners of the Nudge Circular Cities Tour. I joined the group on its trip to gain insights on how policies can support circular initiatives in society.

Recycle unsold bread in beer, it is possible. That's what the Brussels Beer Project is doing with it's freshly released beer Babylone. Inspired by local actors, Beer Project spent a year prototyping a new kind of beer that uses unsold fresh bread to substitute malt as a raw material. Every month BBP brews 12.000 bottles of bread beer and saves about 500kg of bread from being wasted.
In Kalundborg, Denmark is the worlds first fully functional industrial symbioses. Is a place where the by-product or waste of one factory has become a valuable resource of another factory. In doing so, there is an economic benefit for the different companies and a widespread environmental benefit for the surrounding region. This great example of a circular economy has been developed organically over the course of several decades.
To prevent the depletion of resources, Renault is playing an increasing role in the development of a circular economy manufacturing model, in which waste becomes a resource, thus reducing its environmental footprint.
